So the news of Wizkid‘s Come Closer becoming a certified gold in Canada was greeted by many as a magnanimous feat. Having sold over 500,000 units, Wizkid earned a gold certification for his song with Drake, Come Closer.
However, a quick pointer says Wizkid isn’t the first Nigerian-based artist in his era to achieve such as Ayo Jay also hit gold in the US with his track, Your Number in February.
