This week, the spotlight has been on Kai Cenat, an American live streamer, as he explores Lagos, Nigeria. His journey included an exciting encounter with Davido, the celebrated Afrobeat icon.
Before setting foot in Nigeria, Cenat’s worldwide streaming adventures took him to Taiwan. His arrival in Nigeria on March 9, 2024, was marked by a grand welcome from Nigerian comedian, Shanks. Together, they embarked on a tour of Lagos, sharing their experiences with a global audience through live streams. Their itinerary began with a visit to the stilt-supported Makoko community, nestled in a lagoon just off the mainland of Lagos.
Cenat’s exploration of Lagos has taken him to notable spots such as the Landmark Center and the upscale High Fashion store, among other significant attractions. The highlight of his trip came in the early hours of March 12, when he met with Davido. In a live session, Davido announced the completion of his new album, featuring 15 tracks and collaborations with six artists.

During the live stream, Davido stated, “The same way streaming is your work, recording is also my work. 15 songs and six features are on the next record. It’s going to be crazy.” He also spoke fondly of his wife, Chioma, praising her culinary skills, “My wife Chioma, is the best Chef in the world. If she was around, she would have cooked you the best food.” Additionally, Davido gave Cenat, alongside his companions Fanum and Shanks, a brief on Nigerian ethnic groups, ensuring their safety and transportation during their stay.
