Renowned Afrobeat artist, David Adedeji Adeleke, known by his stage name Davido, has consented to a non-judicial resolution concerning a lawsuit for breach of contract lodged against him in the Delta State Effurun High Court by Brownhill Investment Company Limited, under the guidance of Amaju Pinnick.

In a move to settle the lawsuit, valued at N2 billion, outside the courtroom, Davido committed to paying N30 million to the plaintiff within a week following the agreement’s finalization. This payment is intended as a partial reimbursement for the legal expenses incurred by the plaintiff throughout the case.

Further to the settlement, Davido will also grace the stage at the upcoming ‘Warri Again 2024 Concert,’ scheduled for October 4, 2024, in Warri, Delta State. This performance is a key element of the agreement reached between the two parties.

The legal action, filed by the plaintiff’s attorney, Kelechi Onwuegbuchulem, under case number EHC/183/2023, sought N2 billion in general damages from the artist. Additionally, the lawsuit demanded N150 million for legal and professional services, alongside a N30 million charge for the lawsuit’s filing.

The case named both David Adeleke, popularly known as “Davido”, and his record label, Davido Music Worldwide Limited, as defendants.

Following thorough negotiations, both parties have amicably agreed that Davido will perform at the ‘Warri Again Concert’ slated for October 2024, demonstrating a mutually beneficial resolution to the dispute.
