Nigerian Disc Jockey, DJ Tunez, who is widely known as the official disk jockey of Afrobeats sensation Wizkid, recently opened up about the difficulties he faces when collaborating with the superstar artist.
In an exclusive interview on the latest episode of the highly popular Afrobeats Podcast, hosted by Shopsydoo, DJ Tunez shed light on the challenges he encounters while working with Wizkid, while also expressing gratitude for the opportunities he has been given to collaborate with the Starboy honcho.
Despite Wizkid’s demanding schedule, DJ Tunez considers himself fortunate to have had the privilege of featuring the music icon on several of his songs. However, he emphasized that securing Wizkid’s presence on a track is no easy feat, primarily due to the singer’s discerning approach to collaborations.
During the podcast interview, DJ Tunez shared his perspective, stating, “First of all, it has to be a really good song. It has to relate to him [Wizkid]. So, any song that I’m trying to put him on, I say, ‘Hey, how do you feel about it? I feel like it relates to you.”
βAnd if he is down for it, you know he is down for it. He is not easy to work with. You gotta have to take your time jejely.
Despite the hurdles, DJ Tunez expressed deep gratitude for the opportunities he has been granted, acknowledging that Wizkid’s participation has significantly contributed to his own success.
He expressed his appreciation for the generosity and support Wizkid has shown him, stating, “But he has blessed me. I don’t know who else has this many collaborations with him. I appreciate all the love he shows me.”
