Since coming to the limelight last year after the release of his hit track Issa Goal featuring Olamide and Lil Kesh, Naira Marley has garnered more fans than many expected. And now, the music video for his trending Soapy song is set to be released anytime.

Naira Marley recently made a new record on Instagram by getting 40,000 comments in 5hours, a feat never before achieved by an African artist. He had requested fans to help him with comments to enable him to release the music video for Soapy.

 

The song Soapy proves if anything, that as an emerging artist, Naira Marley ought to be taken seriously. He has a distinct style and his deeply-resonating voice carries its own unique flow.

With Soapy enjoying constant airplay, one can only imagine how anxiously fans are waiting for the release of the video. Fortunately, they won’t have to wait for long as it has already been shot and from the behind-the-scenes clip which surfaced online, it is pretty obvious that Naira Marley has aimed for something uniquely entertaining.

Naira Marley released the hit Issa Goal for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the 2018 World Cup which held in Russia and also made headlines when he was arrested by the EFCC in connection with his social media statements glorifying the internet fraudsters popularly called Yahoo Boys.

He appeared in court on May 20, 2019, where he pleaded innocent to the charges. He was granted bail on the 30th of May.

Another contributing factor to the Agege-born musician’s rising popularity is his recent introduction of the Soapy Dance. Like a lot of things concerning him, the dance isn’t without its share of controversy.

Soapy Dance has been criticized by some Nigerian celebrities, including acclaimed dancer Kaffy and Choreographer/Rapper Don Flexx. While the former condemned the dance, the latter said it would be a negative influence on the younger generation. The fact remains that the Soapy Dance has been widely accepted because of the trending artiste.

Love or hate him, there is undoubtedly a lot of buzz surrounding the dreadlocked singer and coupled with fans’ endorsement of the upcoming Soapy music video, the sky appears to be the limit for Naira Marley.
