The year 2020 might not have started on the strongest note, but at least the music did. With the first half of the year down, we already have the likes of Omah Lay making us dance during happy moments and Simi holding us during melancholy ones. No matter how you’re feeling during this confusing time, there just might be a new record out there to match your mood.

Here are our best new tracks of 2020 so far.

10. Aye – Naira Marley

This jam “Aye” is a Yoruba word that means ‘Life’. Naira Marley talks deep about life with reference to his popular slang, ‘Inside Life’ and ‘Mafo’. He shares that Life is not hard at all, it’s the humans who live inside life that makes it difficult due to jealousy, envy, hatred, and evilness. Naira further stressed that before he was always scared of the evil ones but now things has changed.

He isn’t afraid of anyone because he doesn’t do evil and wish people bad. On this track, we get to see another side of the singer as we see him speak the bitter truth that humans don’t like to hear. It makes you want to have a rethink about life and change somethings about yourself.

9. Bad Influence – Omah Lay

This soundtrack is actually hot and making waves right now. The song comes from Omah Lay’s debut EP tagged ‘Get Layed’.

8. Jollof On The Jet – DJ Cuppy Ft. Rema & Rayvanny

International DJ and producer, DJ Cuppy serves up her highly anticipated single titled “Jollof On The Jet“. DJ Cuppy links up with Mavin Records award-winning singer, Rema and Tanzanian recording artist, Rayvanny.

Furthermore, the new song “Jollof On The Jet” will be part of her forthcoming project, “Original Copy” album expected soon.

7. Duduke – Simi

Since the songbird, Simi, dropped a single, ‘Duduke,’ celebrating the baby she is carrying, the unborn baby has become, not just a child celebrity, but a symbol of love and hope for many. The viral song took on a life of its own with the #DukukeChallenge, where everyone becomes “pregnant,” miming the song, dancing to it, or just soaking up the air of pure love the song creates every time it is played.

6. Cool Me Down – WizKid ft DJ Tunez

“Cool Me Down,” is a mellow, yet dance-worthy track, which sees Wizkid dropping addictive lyrics over a wonderful production. The track has us reminiscing about summer outings. It’s distinct sound highlights the beautiful evolution of Afro beats.

Anonymous Music recording artist, Bad Boy Timz has released the remix to his catchy single titled “MJ” (Michael Jackson).

After recently releasing another remix featuring Mayorkun he has gone ahead to release another remix featuring award winning singer, Teni.

NOBODY is the second single from Nigerian disk jockey DJ Neptune’s forthcoming second studio album Greatness II (Sounds Of Neptune) after the successful release of the first single ‘Tomorrow’ featuring Victor AD

NOBODY was produced by Magic Sticks and features vocals from Nigerian singers Joeboy and Mr Eazi.

3. The Matter – Zlatan ft Papisnoop

Talented rapper, Zlatan Ibile came through with a new song titled “The Matter” as he joined the trend on social media.
Zlatan’s latest single was as a result of the recent social media trend, where everyone is trying to settle a particular matter with the slang ‘na the matter we dey settle since’.

The Mansa Jabulani-produced record features Papisnoop.

Starboy Wizkid Comes through with this much track titled Smile featuring HER, off his album tagged Made In Lagos.

‘AG Baby’ delivered by Adekunle Gold with his hit single ‘Something Different’ still topping charts and receiving massive streams, Adekunle dished out another infectious bop tune tagged “AG BABY”. On this new jam he teamed up with Trinidadian singer, Nailah Blackman who blessed the track with a catchy Chorus. Warning!!! This A Big Tune, A virus that would take over your playlist and turn into a favourite.
