Danfo Driver

Song by Mad Melon, Mountain Black
Released: 2006

On his week’s Throwback Thursday, talkGlitz.tv decides to pay tribute to Mad Melon of the Danfo Driver‘s duo with their debut hit song, “Danfo Driver”.

Mad Melon and Mountain Black redefined the dancehall music in Nigeria with their emergence as their song became the street’s choice. Their originality and conscious style of music were elements an average Nigerian could relate to at that time.

“Danfo Driver” is a record that centres around the perception of the middle class and elite about Danfo Driver (typical commercial yellow bus driver in Lagos) back in the years. Mad Melon and Mountain Black were simply expressing how proud of the profession they were against all odds. The tale was from grass to grace as they grew up in the ghetto.

Quotable Lyrics:

We we wooo oo
