Tottenham wing-back Ryan Sessegnon is set to extend his stay at the N17 in a possible five-year deal. The England U-21 defender, who turns 22 in a few days, has been key to Antonio Conte’s fight for a top-four finish as Tottenham look to qualify for the Champions League ahead of the new season, as they have amassed 68 points from 37 games.

Tottenham are happy with Sessegnon’s recent performances and the Englishman is set to be rewarded for the efforts he has put in this season. Sessegnon signed from Fulham in 2019 for a fee reported to be around £25m. He was one of Mauricio Pocchettino’s final signings, along with Tanguy Ndombele who became the club’s record signing for a £60m fee from Olympique Lyon.

Sessegnon’s current deal runs out in 2023 and Antonio Conte is urging the board to improve Sessegnon’s current contract as the Italian tactician sees him as a pivotal part of his squad for the next couple of seasons. Sessegnon did not feature regularly under Jose Mourinho and he was injured during the brief spell of Nuno Espirito Santo, after picking up a groin problem in the UECL playoffs.

The new contract is set to be a five-year deal that runs out in 2027, and will also include a new salary that can also be improved as the seasons go by. Sessegnon is eager to extend his stay in North London and is looking to sign the contract as soon as it is brought forward in the summer. With academy graduate Oliver Skipp signing until 2027, Spurs will turn their focus on extending the deals of Sessegnon and also try to sign Dejan Kulusevski on a permanent deal from Juventus.

The Swede is happy at Tottenham and is looking forward to signing a five-year deal to be a part of Antonio Conte’s future plans. Tottenham are also working to sign a striker and the board are willing to push all that till June as they intend to clear their contract demands of their players in order to start the pre-season with half the business completed.

Sessegnon has not featured for the Three Lions and many at the club expect a call-up to be on the cards for the prolific left wing-back. With Spain’s Sergio Reguilon considering a sensational Madrid return, Sessegnon will be looking to cement his place in the Spurs squad and will definitely be a big part of Conte’s future plans.
