Ian Wright Warns Arteta to Act or Risk Losing Arsenal’s Key Players

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has issued a stark warning to manager Mikel Arteta, urging him to make an “unbelievable” signing during the summer transfer window or risk losing three of the club’s most valuable players. Wright highlighted the uncertain futures of Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, and Gabriel Magalhaes, all of whom could potentially leave if Arsenal fails to end their trophy drought.

The Gunners have narrowly missed out on Premier League glory for two consecutive seasons, and the current campaign is shaping up to follow a similar pattern. Arsenal currently sits second in the league table, six points adrift of leaders Liverpool, who still have a game in hand.

Adding to the pressure, Arsenal recently suffered a string of setbacks, including an FA Cup exit at the hands of Manchester United and a 2-0 deficit in their Carabao Cup semi-final clash against Newcastle United. These disappointments have increased the likelihood of another trophyless season.

Speaking on his Wrighty’s House podcast, Wright voiced concerns about the futures of Arsenal’s star players. “We have to start thinking about Gabriel [Magalhaes], [William] Saliba, and Saka. After this season, they’ve got two years left,” he warned.

Wright also pointed out how external factors like the upcoming World Cup could complicate contract negotiations. “Even if Arsenal say to you, ‘listen, we want to start talking to you,’ managers and agents are going to say, ‘we just want to focus on our game now, trying to make sure we’re in great form for the World Cup.’”

The former Arsenal striker stressed that failure to secure silverware or bolster the squad with top-quality signings could lead to Arsenal’s key players rethinking their commitment to the club.
