Riyad Mahrez Set for Al Ahli Move as Manchester City Accept Bid
Riyad Mahrez to Join Saudi Club Al Ahli in Multi-Million Pound Deal

Manchester City has made a significant decision regarding their player, Riyad Mahrez. The English Premier League champions have officially accepted a bid from Al Ahli, a prominent Saudi Arabian club, for the talented Algerian winger. The deal is reported to be worth up to £30 million (equivalent to $38.7 million in dollars).

As a result of this development, the 32-year-old Mahrez has been granted permission to skip Manchester City’s pre-season tour of Asia, which comes on the heels of their triumphant treble-winning season. Instead, he will focus on negotiating the terms of his potential move to Al Ahli, a club based in Jeddah and competing in the Saudi Pro League.

According to various reports, Mahrez has been presented with a tempting three-year contract offer by the Saudi club. The terms of this deal are expected to be discussed thoroughly before any final decisions are made.

It is worth noting that Mahrez was not included in the 25-man Manchester City squad that was scheduled to depart for Japan and South Korea on Wednesday. This absence clearly indicates the club’s intention to proceed with the transfer.

Although Mahrez had two years remaining on his current contract, which he extended just last summer, he apparently grew increasingly dissatisfied with the lack of playing time he received during Manchester City’s successful 2022/2023 campaign. In the previous season, he started in only 22 matches in the English Premier League and remained an unused substitute in both the final matches of the English FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League.

Mahrez initially joined Manchester City in 2018 after a high-profile £60 million deal with Leicester City. He had previously played a crucial role in Leicester’s remarkable Premier League title triumph in 2016. During his time at Manchester City, Mahrez contributed significantly to the club’s subsequent four league victories under the guidance of manager Pep Guardiola.

With this impending transfer to Al Ahli, Riyad Mahrez seeks to embark on a new chapter in his illustrious football career. Manchester City, on the other hand, will need to fill the void left by the departure of this skilled winger, as they continue their pursuit of further success in the upcoming season.
