Revolution Now: Magistrate Ordered Not To Release Protesters

The Magistrate in charge of the case of the #RevolutionNow protesters has been instructed by the Chief Registrar of Lagos State not to approve their release.

The protesters, who were arraigned before Mrs Komolafe of the Ebute Metta Magistrate Court, pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of unlawful gathering and breach of public peace.

They were granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each, but the Magistrate has been ordered not to sign the bail conditions. The protesters are set to be transferred to .

The police had the protesters arrested on Monday the 5th of August during the #RevolutionNow march.

The march was triggered by the arrest of Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist who called for the protest to express the people’s dissatisfaction with the Federal Government.

Sowore was apprehended in his residence on Saturday the 3rd of August.
