Presidential Panel Seals Abuja Hotel Belonging To A Legislator

According to report, the Presidential Panel has sealed a hotel in Abuja belonging a legislator.

The Special Presidential Investigation Panel for Recovery of Public Property (SPIP) headed by Chief Okoi Obono-Obla today, 19th June 2019, sealed ‘Casa De Lucy’, an exotic Hotel located at Plot 585 David Jemibewon Crescent, Gudu District, Behind Apo Legislative Quarters Zone E by Jimeta Filling Station (Before FUNTAJ International School), Abuja. This was in accordance with the provisions of Executive Order No 6, 2018.

The property is alleged to belong to a politically exposed person who converted the sum of N2 Billion of the Federal government of Nigeria using his privileged position as a member of the legislative branch of government.

Executive Order Number 6 amongst others stipulates that “all Assets of any Nigerian citizen within the territory of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, or within the possession or control of any person known to be a current or former government official, a person acting for or on behalf of such an official, any politically exposed person or any person who is responsible for or complicit in, or has directly or indirectly engaged in Corrupt Practices and Other Relevant Offences are forthwith to be protected from dissipation by employing all available lawful or statutory means, including seeking the appropriate Order(s) of Court where necessary and shall not be transferred, withdrawn or dealt with in any way until the final determination by a court of competent jurisdiction of any corruption-related matter against such a person.”
