A Nollywood actor, identified as Temitayo Phillips Ogunbusola, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his neighbor, Oladotun Johnson Opeyemi, to death over PHCN bill.
It was gathered that the incident happened on Saturday 17th, May,2020, at their home located at No. 4, Sebil Kazeem, Cele-Igbe, Ikotun, Lagos .
Recounting how it all started, Banjo Lateef, a fellow neighbor, said: “I’m in charge of PHCN bill for the compound and I shared the bill for April to everyone in the house and we agreed that we were going to deposit some money to avoid being disconnected.
Temi was owing N21,500 and the neighbors suggested that his light be cut off, but I pleaded that they should allow me talk to him to see if he would deposit some money. ‘
I went to his apartment with another tenant, Ola, and knocked twice on his door. Temi came out in anger and bashed us for knocking on his door. He said, ‘Are you mad ? Are you crazy ? Are you a police officer ?.’ .
An argument ensued and we came to blows.
He also revealed that the actor had threatened to kill him and the deceased in front of the police who came to arrest him with the landlord’s permission for fighting and refusal to pay up his debt.
At the station, the sergeant officer had made him write an undertaking to never cause harm and pay up his outstanding bill instead of detaining him.
‘We got to the gate to the gate of the house where Temi was waiting patiently for us and some neighbors came to warn that we shouldn’t go near Temi as he was holding a knife. So we approached him and told him we weren’t going to allow him stay in the compound until we were completely sure that he wasn’t going to attack us. He left and returned an hour later, screaming’ Come out. I’m going to kill you today’.
We locked the gate and said we weren’t going to allow him come in but other neighbors pleaded that we allow him. We held a stick in self defense but he aimed at me with the knife as i was the first target but i narrowly missed it. he aimed at Dotun and stabbed him in his chest, the next thing i heard was Dotun screaming for help’ BJ he has killed me’.
We were trying to rescue Dotun when Temi aimed for his brother, Sicko, who dodged it and he came for me . I ran out of the compound for my dear life and ran into a house for safety meters away.
The actor was said to have gone into hiding in a nearby hotel after realizing what he had done, he had been fished out by the people in the community and handed over to the Ikotun police.
