Tom Hanks will be starring in a new movie titled News of the World and it will be released in 2020 on Christmas day.
The upcoming film is a historical drama adapted from the book of the same name and will make Hanks and director Paul Greengrass (Captain Phillips) work together again.
Written by Paulette Jiles, News of the World was critically acclaimed as one of the best novels of 2016. It is set five years after the Civil War and follows Captain Jefferson Kyle Kidd (Hanks), a widower and veteran of three wars who is tasked with delivering a 10-year-old orphan, Johanna (HHeHHelena Zelgel) to her relatives in San Antonio. The two forge a bond as they travel across the 400-mile journey.
The movie’s script was written by Luke Davies with producers Tom Hanks, Garry Goetzman, and Gail Mutrux.
