National Grid: Massachusetts Currently Experiencing Power Outage

Confirmed reports from National Grid emerged in the early hours of Thursday morning, March 8 that Massachusetts is currently experiencing a power outage. This is as a result of strong winds and heavy snow from the nor’easter that brought down trees and power lines in the state.

The National Weather Service said Thursday morning that while the strongest winds have passed, the “biggest threat will be for downed limbs, power lines on top of hazardous wintry weather conditions.”

“With several communities experiencing power outages and downed trees, the administration is urging residents to stay off roadways and to use public transportation when possible,” Gov. Charlie Baker said.

As of 7 a.m., the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency said there were more than 300,000 businesses and homes without power in the state. MEMA is tracking power outages town-by-town.
