Sir Mo Farah, the renowned British long-distance runner, has recently announced that he will be retiring from his impressive career after the Great North Run in September. According to a report from The Independent, Farah just completed his final London Marathon last Sunday, finishing ninth in an impressive time of two hours, ten minutes, and 28 seconds.

The legendary sports figure, who turned 40 years old last month, is planning to participate in the Great Manchester 10k in May before bidding farewell to his career on the streets of Tyneside. Farah, who previously won the Olympic 5,000m and 10,000m in both 2012 and 2016, stated that the Great North Run will be his last-ever race, and he has no plans to compete in any more track races.

“The track is done. I’ll just do a couple more races on the road and wave to the crowd. It’s the right decision, and hopefully, I’ll get to spend time with my family while continuing to be involved with the sport,” Farah said.

It is a bittersweet moment for fans of Farah, who have followed his incredible career for years. However, they can take solace in the fact that he plans to retire after giving it his all in the upcoming races. Farah has consistently proven himself to be a talented athlete, and his legacy will undoubtedly be remembered for years to come.

In another piece of news, in July 2022, Farah shared a surprising revelation that he was smuggled into the UK from Somaliland, a region in northern Somalia. This shocking news added another layer to his already fascinating life story.
