Air Peace, Nigeria’s largest domestic airline, has offered to evacuate Nigerians who are stranded in Sudan at no cost. The offer comes as the country is currently in turmoil due to an ongoing uprising. The Chairman of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, has stated that the airline is willing to fly to a neighboring country and evacuate Nigerians from there since Sudan’s airspace is closed for civil aviation flights.
The airline had previously deployed flights in 2019 to evacuate Nigerians in South Africa during the xenophobic attack that was happening at the time. Onyema believes that everything should not be left for the government alone, especially in times of urgency and immediate action.
He is committed to ensuring that Nigerians stranded in the war-torn country are safe, and it is his duty to help Nigeria prevent the loss of her citizens.
The Chairman emphasized that Air Peace would be privileged and honored to give every Nigerian stranded in Sudan a sense of pride and unity in their country. He added that the airline is ready to take action immediately, and any action that would promote national pride, national cohesion, peace, and unity is what they stand for. He also made it clear that Air Peace has no apologies for believing in their nation and loving it despite national challenges.
Parents of some of the stranded Nigerians in Sudan have already started calling on the airline for help. Air Peace is ready to do this again and again, and if the stranded Nigerians can be moved to Kenya, Uganda, or any other neighboring country, the airline will move in to get them out. Air Peace has demonstrated its commitment to the safety and well-being of Nigerians both at home and abroad.
