In an interview on Wednesday on Channels Television, Mmesoma expressed her belief that the three-year ban imposed on her by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) was unjust, as she claimed innocence in the printing of her result, which initially displayed a score of 362 out of 400.

Recalled the 19-year-old student had initially asserted that she achieved the highest score in JAMB after her UTME result slip showed a remarkable 362.

However, JAMB disputed the validity of her result, accusing her of forgery. The conflicting claims between Mmesoma and JAMB ignited a significant controversy across Nigeria.

Despite JAMB’s insistence that Mmesoma had forged her result, the board’s assertion was challenged by Mmesoma herself. She argued that she should not be held responsible for the mix-up, as she had not manipulated or falsified any document.

Following an investigation, it was revealed that the initial result provided to Mmesoma was incorrect, and her actual score was 249. Mmesoma expressed her frustration, stating, “After all was said and done, I now saw that I got 249. I sent them a text message there to know what really happened — the JAMB Support System. If they go to their system, they will see it there.”

Mmesoma maintained her innocence regarding the printing of her result, asserting that it was not her fault. She criticized JAMB’s decision to impose a ban on her, stating, “It’s not my fault that I printed my result like that, and they said that I forged my result. It’s not my fault. So, them banning it is not fair.”

The claims and counter-claims between Mmesoma and JAMB have sparked a widespread debate and raised questions about the integrity of the examination process.

JAMB, on its part, has emphasized that the template used by Mmesoma to print her result was no longer in use after 2021, further adding to the complexity of the situation.

As the controversy continues to unfold, Mmesoma’s admission of her actual score brings some clarity to the issue. However, the lingering dispute over the responsibility for the incorrect result and the subsequent ban imposed on her by JAMB leaves the final resolution of this matter uncertain.
