A migrant woman of Congolese descent, was forced to deliver her baby girl aboard an Italian patrol ship ‘Bettica”, after being rescued from the Mediterrenean sea.

Miracle child. ‘Joy Aurora’ was born at 5.18am on July 30 on Italian navy patrol boat Bettica which was patrolling the waters.

She is the daughter of a Congolese couple rescued together with 870 other asylum-seeking migrants.

During childbirth, both mother and child received the healthcare they needed on board the ship. A doctor and a nurse from the organization “Fondazione Francesca Rava”, including medical staff from the Italian Red Cross and the Italian Navy were all on hands to help out with this miraculous incident.
