Shock reports have again claimed Manchester United have opened talks with Philippe Coutinho’s agent to discuss a potential move to Old Trafford.
Barcelona signed the Brazil international from Liverpool in a £142 million deal last January, and he seemingly adjusted to life at the Nou Camp with relative ease, becoming one of the most creative players at the club.
But this season has been a different story for the talented winger, and he has struggled to make an impact on the Barcelona side, with only nine starts in eighteen La Liga games for the Brazilian.
And according to Mundo Deportivo, United have been monitoring Coutinho’s situation and have already approached the midfielder’s representative to register their interest and ask about the possibility of a transfer.
It is believed Coutinho is not happy with his current situation at Barcelona and would consider a move away if he continues to find himself on the Bench at the Camp nou.
Could United seriously complete this deal?
United have the financial capability to land any player in world football and most players would love the opportunity to sign for the Red Devils, but this is just speculation.
Barcelona will not want to let one of their biggest players leave the club this month and Coutinho would not want to leave after fighting so hard to get the switch to Barcelona.
United have more realistic targets in the January window that they could complete deals, for so this one should just be put to bed as it will not happen.
They need to add a couple of defenders to the back-line and rather than waste time with moves that wont happen, get some deals done.
