A native of Abia State in southeast Nigeria, the legend fondly called ‘Papilo’ by football fans played for Nigerian team Iwuanyanwu Nationale, Dutch side Ajax, Inter Milan of Italy and English clubs Arsenal, Portsmouth and West Bromwich Albion.
Kanu won two African Player of the year awards, three FA Cup Medals, a UEFA cup medal and a UEFA Champions League Medal.
