JUST IN: LAUTECH Sold To Federal Government As Oyo And Osun Hand Over Ownership

This is to notify the general public that Ladoke Akintola University of Technology located at Ogbomoso, Oyo state has been sold to the federal government of Nigeria due to lack of funds by Oyo and Osun state governments.

The institution which comprises of six faculties was established in the year 1990 and then was known as State University of Technology and later changed to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH).

According to Oyerinde Bode who shared the news on his social media handle said A meeting was held in Abuja yesterday at exactly 12:00 pm by the two state and the Federal government that the university (LAUTECH) has been sold and now will be run by the Federal government.

The fee was not made known to the public but the two states will still have shares.According to report, the new name will be announced very soon as University of Technology, Ogbomoso (UNITECH)

LAUTECH is jointly owned by Oyo and Osun States.

On Monday June 19, 2017, the Alumni body in collaboration with all the staff unions on campus visited the great human right lawyer, Chief Femi Falana SAN at his office in ikeja to seek legal action over the highhandedness and most importantly abuse of LAUTECH students’ right to education by the two owner governments.

The visit was led by the Alumni President, Mr. Babajide Bewaji, and in company of the Secretary, Mr. Oloso Kamal, SSANU Secretary, Mr. Hamamatsu Fajoye and the Nasu Chairman, Mr. Tunwagun.

After briefing the legal luminary on the current situation in LAUTECH, the great lawyer did not only show interest to take up the case but was highly optimistic that the case would be expeditiously instituted and that judgement will go the students and staff way.
