Various media houses in Belgium’s capital, Brussels, confirmed that Dortmund striker Erling Haaland was spotted at the capital undergoing a medical at Erasmus Hospital yesterday. It is believed that a Manchester City team doctor was also at the hospital during check session. Erling Haaland has agreed personal terms with Manchester City for a five-year contract, with the option of a further year.

The 21-year-old has been linked to many powerhouses in Europe, with Barcelona and Real Madrid  being well known admirers of the Norwegian. Haaland signed for Dortmund in January of 2020 from RB Salzburg in the Austria Bundesliga where he shot to limelight. At the time, Mancester United were favourites to sign the big Norwegian but the board did not act quickly enough and he joined the Yellow and Black that winter.

Haaland has agreed personal terms with City and a wage structure has been agreed on. However, Haaland will not be the highest earner at the Etihad as widely speculated by many tabloids. His salary will not surpass that of Kevin de Bruyne who is currently the club’s highest earner and his transfer fee will be £75m and not the inflated £300m speculated.

Erling Haaland rose to stardom when he scored nine goals at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2019. His goal scoring prowess is next to none and he was the Golden Boy winner in 2020, beating the likes of Jadon Sancho, Ansu Fati, Alphonso Davies, Sandro Tonali amongst others. A deadly left foot and an excellent shooting accuracy, coupled with the aerial ability to head the ball and beat his opponents in the air, Haaland can be safely called the ”complete package” that City have missed since the club legend Sergio Aguero departed las season.

With the signing of Haaland,  it is likely that Gabriel Jesus could move to Arsenal who have been keen on the Brazilian since the start of the season. Jesus was reportedly listening to offers from Inter but the Italian side have not continued negotiations with Jesus’ representatives. Arsenal are working to sign an early replacement for Alex Lacazette, who leaves at the end of the season.

Manchester City are also very interested in Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong who has also been tipped to join Bayern. The 25-year-old has squashed talks regarding his future and insists he is fully focused on Barcelona and working with Xavi amid links to City and Barca. City are looking for a replacement for their out-going  captain  Fernandinho who has spent nine years at the Manchester club and a host of defensive midfielders have popped up; De Jong, Wilfred Ndidi and Klavin Phillips are all options listed for Pep Guardiola.
