Family Pays N5m Ransom For Sisters To Be Released In Ondo
Ondo State

Four days after the kidnap of two sisters in Akure, Ondo State, the abductors have released the victims after the family has reportedly paid a sum of N5 million ransom.

The sisters were abducted by the gunmen in their mother’s Toyota Camry car at Leo Area of Akure, the state capital, on Friday evening at 8.30 pm.

A family source who confirmed the release of the two girls to journalists said the victims were released to their parents at 10 pm on Tuesday after the ransom had been paid.

The source disclosed that the two girls identified as Fikayo, 2 and Bolu, 4, were led by some security operatives from the state police command who handed them to their parents.

He explained that the two girls were dropped around Okuta Elerinla Area in Akure where a good Samaritan saw them and took them to the police station.

He said, “Initially the kidnappers demanded N40million as ransom but later reduced the money to N5 million after negotiating with the parents of the girls.

“We want to thank all those that have offered prayers and entreaties for the quick release of our girls. I can confirm to you that they have regained their freedom and reunited with their mother.”

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed that the young girls had regained their freedom on Tuesday night.

“A good Samaritan who saw them (victims) in the night took them to the police station and the little girls had been handed to their parents.”

She, however, claimed oblivion of payment of ransom for the release of the little girls.
