A 20-year-old commercial driver, Ismaila Bello, has been charged to Ado- Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for murder.
Bello is arraigned for the alleged murder of a member of the transporter’s union, Femi Ajayi, in Igogo Ekiti, Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
Inspector Oriyomi Akinwale, who confirmed the incident told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 25, 2019, over a N100 daily levy.
Akinwale stated, “The defendant, who is a driver, was given N100 daily ticket by the union. On his way back, he was asked to pay the money for the ticket but he refused.
“In the process, it resulted in a crisis and one of the members deflated his vehicle tyre, which angered him and he beat the deceased with a deadly charm. The deceased died in the process of being rushed to the hospital.”
The plea of the defendant was however not taken.
