Catholic Church Approves Ordination Of Married Men As Priests
Pope Francis of Vatican City approves Ordination of married men as priests

A proposal that appeals that married men should also be allowed ordination as priests in the Amazon region has been approved by Pope Francis, sovereign of Vatican City.

AccordingΒ  to reports, theΒ proposal must be approved by Pope FrancisΒ before it could stand.

The Amazon region includesΒ  areas such as some parts of Peru, Suriname, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, Columbia, French Guiana.

The proposal tagged viri probatiΒ  refers to older Catholic men who have stable families, respected in their communities, and are already deacons in their respective churches.

ThisΒ  recent development would be a bigΒ  change in the church’sΒ  traditions where only unmarried men were appointed as priests.
