Days after the massive explosion that rocked Beirut, Lebanon, actor George Clooney and his wife Amal Clooney have pledged their support to the victims of the tragedy with a $100,000 donation.
A rep for the celebrity couple who spoke with E! News revealed that they are making the donation to Lebanese charities after the explosion that ripped through the region on Tuesday, August 4, 2020.
Clooney’s wife Amal was born in Beirut and raised in the United States, and sharing their thoughts on the recent tragedy, the couple said:
We’re both deeply concerned for the people of Beirut and the devastation they’ve faced in the last few days.
Three charitable organizations we’ve found are providing essential relief on the ground: the Lebanese Red Cross, Impact Lebanon, and Baytna Baytak. We will be donating $100,000 to these charities and hope that others will help in any way they can.”
Reports have disclosed that at least 5,000 people sustained injuries in the blast that claimed 135 persons, with dozens missing.
