The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is facing yet another crisis as the National Vice Chairman, North-West, Salihu Mohammed Lukman, has recommended the removal of the National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and the National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

Lukman alleged that Omisore had mismanaged party funds in Osun State and called for his resignation, stating that his emergence had divided the Osun State chapter of the party. He further recommended that Adamu be replaced with a Christian to ensure religious balancing, considering the Muslim-Muslim presidency of Asíwájú Bola Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima.

In response, Omisore has demanded that Lukman retract his libelous statement and apologize within 48 hours. Omisore’s lawyers, Lords Temple, have also demanded the payment of N500 million as damages for the malicious statement made against their client. The lawyers argue that Lukman’s statement is false, misleading, and without any factual basis. They also assert that the statement was a deliberate attempt to malign Omisore’s image and political stature as a leader in Osun State, the South-West geopolitical zone, and Nigeria as a whole.

The demand notice signed by Gboyega Oyewole, SAN, further states that Lukman’s statement was a political ploy intended to impugn Omisore’s reputation and integrity and unjustifiably assassinate his character in the eyes of the public. Omisore’s lawyers have called for a retraction of the libelous statement and publication and an apology to be published in two major newspapers and several online news outlets. They have also demanded the payment of N500 million as damages for the malicious statement made against their client.

In light of these developments, it remains to be seen how the APC will respond to Lukman’s recommendations and Omisore’s demands for retraction and damages.
