2019: Igbo Groups To Raise N500bn For Igbo Presidency Project

Two Igbo Groups namely, the Igbo For Presidency Organisation, IFPO and the World Igbo Business Council, WIBEC have vowed to raise five hundred billion naira between now and 2019 to support the Igbo Presidency 2019 project.

The two groups stated this in a joint press conference they held at Enugu on Tuesday, 28th February.

They appreciated ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo for standing in support of the project.

They also appreciated former Heads of state Generals Yakubu Gowon and Gen Ibrahim Babangida for also supporting it.

They asked the North and the west to shelve any ambition to go for the Presidency in 2019 noting that both zones have had a fair share of power in Nigeria and it will be unfair for them to still make such move when the Igbos are yet to have their shot at the office.

The groups called on qualified Igbos who have what it takes to lead Nigeria in 2019 to begin to show interest now .

They noted that the aspirants should not be deterred by financial constraints as they are poised to raise the necessary funds for that before then.

Spokesmen for the groups Pastor Okechukwu Colbert and Mazi Obisike Chidiebere promised to ensure that an Igbo man is at Aso Rock come May 29th , 2019 when the tenure of President Mohammadu Buhari would have ended
