Xhaka's Arsenal Departure Imminent: Leverkusen Prepares Hefty Bid
Granit Xhaka

Swiss footballer, Granit Xhaka, appears set to say his goodbyes to Arsenal, as Bayer Leverkusen looks ready to make a larger-than-expected bid for the in-demand midfielder, according to the latest reports out of London.

Sources close to the matter reveal that the anticipated transfer fee for Xhaka’s move to the Bundesliga team is projected to be around £21.5 million ($27.3 million), a considerable increase from the initial £13 million ($16.5 million) discussed when the transfer proposition first emerged.

Xhaka, 30, has been an integral part of Arsenal since his 2016 move from Borussia Monchengladbach, demonstrating impressive performances last season. His stellar contributions have included seven goals and an equal number of assists in the Premier League, playing a pivotal role in leading Mikel Arteta’s team to a commendable second-place finish.

The impending departure of Xhaka from Emirates Stadium is anticipated to be offset by the proposed arrival of Declan Rice, with a reported transfer fee of £105 million ($121 million). Furthermore, the Gunners are reported to have their sights set on additional midfield reinforcements in the form of Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo. Ajax’s versatile defender, Jurrien Timber, is also rumoured to be on the brink of a move to the London-based club.

As per sources, official confirmation of Xhaka’s switch to Leverkusen should be announced in the days ahead. Once completed, the Swiss international could potentially make his debut appearance for Leverkusen in a pre-season friendly match against Paderborn scheduled for July 21.

With Xhaka’s exit imminent, Arsenal’s reshuffle in midfield and defensive line-ups will be under close scrutiny by fans and football analysts alike, setting an intriguing tone for the coming season.
