In Lagos state, Nigeria, a tragic incident occurred that resulted in the death of Glory Okon after she was allegedly stabbed by her friend, Annie Ofili, during a dispute. The incident took place in Ofili’s apartment in Greenville Estate, Badore, located in the Ajah area of Lagos.

Reports indicate that during the altercation, Ofili went to the kitchen and grabbed a knife, which she allegedly used to stab Okon in the neck. According to an eyewitness who spoke to Punch, no one knows what triggered the argument, but when they heard the two women shouting at each other, their attempts to intervene and separate them were unsuccessful.

The eyewitness stated, “We heard both of them shouting in the room of one of the tenants and quickly ran there. When we got there, we met the door locked, forced it open and rushed in. When we entered, we met Ofili on top of her friend with a knife, and her friend was in a pool of blood with knife stabs in her neck and at the back.”

Okon was quickly taken to the general hospital at CMS, Lagos Island, but unfortunately, the doctor on duty confirmed her dead. Following the incident, Ofili’s landlord reported the case to the Ajah Police Station for investigation.

Confirming the arrest of Ofili, the Lagos police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, said, “Yes, I am aware of the incident. It happened around 5.50 pm on Sunday. The Divisional Police Officer, Ajah Division, got a distress call from the landlord living at Greenville Estate, Badore, Ajah, Lagos State.”

“The landlord said around 1.20 pm, one of his tenants, Annie Ofili, murdered her girlfriend, Glory Okon, who came to visit her, with a kitchen knife. Upon receiving the information, a team of detectives was sent to the address, and the lady was arrested, and the kitchen knife was recovered as an exhibit.”

Hundeyin further stated that Okon’s body was evacuated and deposited at the Mainland General Hospital mortuary in Yaba for autopsy and preservation. Meanwhile, Ofili will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for further investigation and prosecution.
