Popular Nollywood actress Ini Edo has recently revealed the reasons behind her decision to have a child through a surrogate after experiencing multiple miscarriages.

In an exclusive interview with renowned media personality Chude Jideonwo, she candidly discussed her personal struggles with relationships and the challenges she faced in her journey toward motherhood.
During the insightful interview, which took place earlier this week, Ini Edo shared her motivations for choosing surrogacy as the path to fulfill her long-awaited dream of becoming a mother.
The actress first made her surrogacy announcement in 2021, but her decision received some criticism, prompting her to clarify certain aspects, including the identity of the sperm donor.
In her words: βI chose a surrogate because Iβve had a couple of miscarriages, you know, and I just got tired of trying,β
βI didnβt want to try. I donβt have a husband, so Iβm like, βI want a child for myself whether I have a husband or not.β So, what other options could I have had? And I wanted it to be my child; my eggs. Thankfully, my eggs are good.
In her heartfelt conversation, Ini Edo emphasized the importance of prioritizing one’s own happiness and not relying on the judgments of others.
βYou live this life for yourself. Itβs just you that matters. You canβt be the judge of your own life and my life at the same time, No! This is my own life, Iβd hold it. The truth is people donβt really care, she expressed.
She continued, βIf you care enough for yourself, thatβs enough. Donβt expect people to care. Everybody has their own problems to deal with. People have issues. Theyβre just thinking of themselves.
βTheyβre just using their own frustrations and venting it out on you. Perhaps the courage you have, they donβt have. So just do you. Because youβre listening to them, youβd sit on the same seat with them and thatβs basically what they want.β
Ini Edo’s acting career took off in the year 2000 when she made her debut in the Nollywood film ‘Thick Madam’. However, it was her remarkable performance in the 2004 movie ‘World Apart that truly catapulted her into the limelight, earning her widespread recognition and acclaim.
The actress was previously married to Philip Ehiagwina, a US-based businessman, in 2008. However, the couple ultimately divorced in 2014. Despite the challenges she has faced in her personal life, Ini Edo continues to thrive professionally, captivating audiences with her remarkable talent and dedication to her craft.
