Tonto Dikeh, a well-known Nollywood actress and former running mate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate in the recently concluded gubernatorial election in Rivers state, has reiterated her commitment to politics. In a message of appreciation to her supporters on her Instagram page on Wednesday, she expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to have been a part of the 2023 General Election and for being considered the Deputy Governorship candidate under the prestigious platform of Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) with his Excellency, Hon. Tonte Ibraye.

She went on to thank Almighty God for granting her the grace, her family for their unwavering love and support, and the good people of Rivers State for their belief in her. Tonto acknowledged that participating in politics can be difficult, especially for women, but she urged her fellow women not to be discouraged and to support each other, regardless of political affiliation. She also apologized to those she may have offended during the course of the election and asked for their forgiveness.

In addition, Tonto praised her colleague Funke Akindele for standing up for Lagos State, stating that integrity, not party, has always been the priority. As the 2023 Election concludes with a newly elected leader, Tonto urged everyone to prioritize the peace and prosperity of Rivers State above their emotions, and for the unity and development of Nigeria, because only together can we make a difference.

It should be noted that Tonto Dikeh and her principal dropped out of the race to join forces with the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its candidate, Tonye Cole, as previously reported by Tribune Online.
