Following a grueling campaign and election season, President-elect Asíwájú Bola Tinubu has left for a well-deserved break abroad to prepare for his inauguration on May 29, 2023. According to a statement issued by his media aide, Tunde Rahman, to newsmen in Abuja, the President-elect departed from the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Ikeja for Europe on Tuesday night.

The statement further disclosed that President-elect Tinubu decided to take some time off to rest and recharge in Paris and London before embarking on a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia for Umrah (Lesser Hajj) and the Ramadan Fasting which begins on Thursday. While away, the President-elect will also use the opportunity to plan his transition programme.

To ensure that his aides and campaign staff are also well-rested, President-elect Tinubu has directed them to take a short break as well. The statement concluded by noting that the President-elect is expected back in the country soon.
