President Tinubu’s decision to appoint new service chiefs came in the aftermath of the retirement of their predecessors, who had served under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The appointment of the new service chiefs went through a rigorous and transparent screening process by the National Assembly to ensure that only the most qualified and competent candidates assume these crucial positions. On July 13, the Senate conducted a thorough screening of the nominees during a closed session that lasted for more than an hour.

Following thorough scrutiny and satisfying the Senate’s requirements, the appointments were confirmed, setting the stage for a new era in Nigeria’s defense leadership.

Notably, on July 19, during a plenary session, the House of Representatives also confirmed the appointments of the service chiefs.
