Teslim Folarin, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for governor in Oyo State, has congratulated his opponent, Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for winning the just-concluded Saturday election. The Oyo State Independent National Electoral Commission collation officer, Adebayo Bamire, announced on Sunday that Makinde had won with a total of 563,756 votes. Folarin came second with 256,685 votes, while Adebayo Adelabu of the Accord Party came third with 38,357 votes.
In a statement issued personally by Folarin on Monday, he congratulated Makinde and expressed his appreciation to the people of Oyo State for their support of all APC candidates during the February 25th and March 18th elections. He also thanked leaders and members of the APC, coalition parties, candidates of other political parties who worked for them, volunteers, the press, and individuals who contributed to the Itesiwaju Ipinle Oyo 2023 project.
Folarin went on to express his gratitude to members of the 2023 Oyo State APC Presidential and Governorship Campaign Council for their excellent issue-based campaigns. He thanked them for their loyalty, dedication, and commitment to the cause.
In conclusion, Folarin stated that with great power comes great responsibility, and as such, he urged Makinde to be the governor for all, regardless of political affiliations. He wished him success during his tenure and prayed for God’s blessings on the people of Oyo State.
