In a recent interview, the 31-year-old singer shed light on the controversy that engulfed him, emphasizing that he would never resort to faking his own demise for the sake of fame. Skiibii disclosed that his collapse during that time was attributed to a recurring health condition, rather than a staged publicity stunt.

Skiibii, in August 2015 reportedly slumped and passed away. Disturbing images of the singer lying on the floor of what appeared to be a living room quickly spread across various social media platforms, triggering an outpouring of grief and tributes from numerous celebrities, including industry heavyweights Davido and Wizkid.

However, it was later confirmed that Skiibii had miraculously survived the incident, leading to a mix of relief, confusion, and controversy.

During the recent interview, Skiibii narrated the series of events that transpired during his critical health episode.

He revealed that he had been grappling with a condition that caused him to frequently lose consciousness. “At that time, I had that issue for real, I black out normally. So that happened to me like twice, on the plane to South Africa, I went to the bathroom, and on my way back I just fell down,” he recalled.

The singer went on to recount another instance when he experienced a similar episode at Singer’s Kcee’s house.

In another incident he said, “So this particular one happened when I went to Surulere to greet my brother and on my way out I just fell down. People saw them rushing me out, and everyone was like Skiibii is dead,” he explained.

Skiibii expressed his disdain for discussing the issue but acknowledged that it had taken a toll on his mental and emotional well-being. Despite going through a genuinely challenging period in his life, he found himself facing criticism from the public, with some accusing him of fabricating his own death to boost his popularity.

“People were bashing me, that was so crazy. Everywhere was on fire, people saying I faked my death to blow. I just stopped talking about it, let people think what they want,” Skiibii stated.

The singer also revealed that he sought medical treatment in the United States after the incident. Upon his release from the hospital, Skiibii was shocked to discover messages of condolence flooding his phone, with even Wizkid sharing his picture on social media. “I still remember Wizkid’s caption; he said all he wanted was to be happy. I was crying seeing all these things. I was going through real life, and people were bashing me,” Skiibii reminisced.
