Good News for Sergio Rico: PSG Goalkeeper Transferred from Intensive Care Unit

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Sergio Rico has made significant progress in his recovery from a traumatic brain injury and has been moved out of intensive care, according to a hospital report issued on Wednesday. The 29-year-old footballer will now receive further treatment at the Virgen del Rocio hospital in Seville, where he was initially admitted on May 28 following an unfortunate incident involving a horse during a local festival.

In a report sent to various media outlets, the hospital stated, “Sergio Rico has been discharged from the ICU, where he received diligent care and constant monitoring from the Intensive Care team and other specialized professionals over the course of five weeks.” The report further added, “Effective immediately, he has been transferred to the ward, where he will continue to receive comprehensive medical and nursing assistance from another team of specialists at the hospital.”

Hospital sources had previously informed AFP that Rico had been in a coma but had since regained consciousness and was once again able to communicate. This recent development is a positive indication of his ongoing recovery.

Sergio Rico, hailing from Sevilla, has enjoyed a successful football career thus far. He triumphed in the Europa League twice during his time with his hometown club, Sevilla.
