The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, says the  Second Niger Bridge built by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is reason enough for the South-East zone to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

The governor added that commuters are no longer as inconvenienced as they once were and that the majority of the federal roads in the region have received adequate attention and funding.

Uzodimma said this while speaking on Channels Television on Thursday.

“Senator Bola Tinubu is the presidential candidate of the APC, the party in power. From 1970 when the civil war ended, the Igbos asked for the Second Niger Bridge, and government after government came with promises that were not fulfilled.

“The last Christmas was greeted with jubilation; Igbos coming from outside the South-East using the Second Niger Bridge. That is even enough for the whole Igbos to vote for Buhari’s legacy to continue.”

In order to improve travel conditions for holiday travellers, the Federal Government opened the bridge to traffic on December 15, 2022, while the project was still ongoing.

The 1.6-kilometre-long bridge connects the states of Delta and Anambra.

Shehu Shagari, a candidate for the National Party of Nigeria at the time, first suggested building the Second Niger Bridge during the electoral campaign in 1978–1979 (NPN).
