Ruben Amorim Responds to Manchester United Managerial Rumors
Amorim Denies Manchester United Contact Amidst Poor Start

Sporting CP’s head coach, Ruben Amorim, has addressed recent speculations surrounding his potential appointment as the new manager for Manchester United, who have been experiencing a challenging season with eight losses in their initial 15 matches across all competitions. Their recent exit from the Carabao Cup after a 3-0 defeat to Newcastle United added to their woes.

In the wake of his team’s 4-2 victory against Farense in the Portuguese Cup on Thursday, Amorim clarified that he has not been approached by Manchester United. He stated, “This year, I’m not revisiting the same conversations as last year. I won’t be making any comments on these matters. Regarding the future, I have plans for the end of the season, but I won’t disclose them at this time. However, the current circumstances and results may lead to different considerations. I prefer not to engage in discussions about these topics because I haven’t received any contact from Manchester United.”

Reports have suggested that Amorim’s contract includes a €10 million (£8.7 million) release clause, but the 38-year-old coach has indicated his respect for the contract he holds with Sporting CP and his desire to fulfill it.

Meanwhile, former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane, aged 51, has also emerged as a potential candidate for the Manchester United managerial position. Zidane has been without a club since his departure from the Spanish giants for the second time in 2021.
