REVEALED! Why MTN Withdrew Support For 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' Show

It has been a decade now since the financial support TV series, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (WWTBM) has aired on major network stations across the nation.

Recently, it came as a shock when the news about MTN, a telecom giant pulled out of the show and it resulted the organisers of WWTBM to rest the show temporarily.

Numerous rumours have been stated especially on the internet and social media, Facebook, emphasizing on the reasons why the telecoms operator backed out.

According to PUNCH, the show would definitely be back on air for its tenth-anniversary celebration.

The source, therefore, revealed that the main reason was as a result of the N330bn fine by The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) which slapped the Africa’s biggest mobile Operator, MTN.

It is the fine that was imposed by NCC that made them pull out of Who Wants To be A Millionaire. The company loved the programme and wanted it to air but that fine was too much for it. It was not WWTBAM alone that it dropped, so many agencies working with the company were also affected including its permanent staff; so it is not about the programme alone.

Moreover, its South African quarter is also challenged with some difficulties as at this moment.
That is the main reason why MTN backed out from sponsoring WWTBM.

However, temporary things can not be permanent, once the issue is settled, the Show would tend to sprout again more independently, In fact, it would air for its tenth year anniversary.
