Real Madrid’s star forward Marco Asensio and Sporting Lisbon’s talented midfielder Manuel Ugarte are on the verge of joining Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) after successfully completing their medical examinations. The anticipated transfers are expected to bolster PSG’s squad ahead of the upcoming season.

Asensio, a prominent figure in Spanish football at the age of 27, will part ways with Real Madrid as a free agent when his contract expires later this month. The skillful winger has enjoyed a successful tenure in the Spanish capital, capturing three illustrious UEFA Champions League titles during his remarkable eight-year spell with the club.

According to reports from French media outlets, PSG will acquire the services of the talented Uruguayan midfielder Ugarte for a hefty fee of 60 million euros ($64 million). The 22-year-old has proven his worth at Sporting Lisbon and has three years remaining on his existing contract with the Portuguese side.

The arrivals of Asensio and Ugarte come hot on the heels of two significant departures from PSG. The Argentine superstar Lionel Messi bid farewell to the Parisian club, leaving a void in their attacking ranks, while the experienced midfielder Sergio also made his exit. Furthermore, PSG’s head coach, Christophe Galtier, will also be departing the club, raising speculation about the future direction of the team.

PSG’s ambitious recruitment drive doesn’t stop with Asensio and Ugarte. The French giants have been linked with several high-profile transfer targets, aiming to strengthen their squad further. Among the potential acquisitions are three French internationals: Lucas Hernandez, the talented defender from Bayern Munich; Randal Kolo Muani, an attacking threat from Eintracht Frankfurt; and Marcus Thuram, a forward from Borussia Moenchengladbach.

In addition to their pursuit of domestic talent, PSG is currently engaged in negotiations with Inter Milan for the signing of Milan Skriniar, the highly-regarded centre-back from Slovakia. The potential addition of Skriniar would enhance PSG’s defensive options and provide further depth to their backline.

As the transfer window gathers pace, PSG remains determined to assemble a formidable squad capable of conquering both domestic and international competitions. With the imminent arrivals of Marco Asensio and Manuel Ugarte, alongside ongoing discussions with other high-caliber players, the Parisian club aims to build a squad that can compete at the highest level in the forthcoming season.
