Rashford's Double Seals Victory for Manchester United Against Leicester City

Manchester United secured a crucial 3-0 victory against Leicester City at Old Trafford, with Marcus Rashford delivering a sensational performance by scoring twice. Rashford’s goals took his tally to 24, surpassing his previous personal record of 22 goals in a single season. His opening goal came in the first half against the run of play, following Leicester’s strong start. The second goal followed a VAR intervention, which overruled an offside decision.

In the second half, United’s domination continued, and substitute Jadon Sancho, playing in a new No 10 role after replacing Alejandro Garnacho at half-time, added a third goal. This victory has taken Erik ten Hag’s side within three points of second place, as Manchester City drew against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

While United dominated in the second half, they faced significant challenges in the opening minutes. Leicester piled on the pressure, and United had to rely on goalkeeper David De Gea’s two massive saves to keep a clean sheet. Furthermore, Marcel Sabitzer’s high challenge on Leicester defender Wout Faes was overlooked, and he avoided being sent off.

Under Ten Hag’s leadership, Old Trafford has become a fortress for United, and they have extended their unbeaten home run to 17 games. On Thursday, they will face Barcelona in the second leg of their Europa League play-off game with the scores finely poised at 2-2. Three days later, they will take on Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley. This victory against Leicester has given them the necessary momentum to continue their winning streak and challenge for trophies.
