Presidents of Cuba and Nicaragua Congratulate Nigerian President-Elect Tinubu

According to a recent news report, Presidents Miguel Diaz-Canel of Cuba and Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua have extended their congratulations to the newly elected President of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on his triumph in the February 25th presidential election. The messages were conveyed in separate letters, as stated by Tinubu’s media aide, Tunde Rahman, on Saturday.

Diaz-Canel, in his message, lauded Tinubu’s victory, describing it as “a reaffirmation of the will to continue to strengthen the historic relations of friendship between the two countries.” Meanwhile, Ortega and Murillo, the vice-president of Nicaragua, expressed their best wishes to Nigeria in their congratulatory message.

Furthermore, the Developing Eight Organisations for Economic Cooperation (D8) has also congratulated Tinubu on his election win. The D8 is looking forward to working with his administration to accomplish the aims and objectives of their organization. The D8 is a group of eight developing countries – Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey – that focuses on promoting economic cooperation among its members.

According to Isiaka Abdulqadir Imam, the Secretary-General of the D8, Nigeria is a loyal member of the organization and hosts the D8 Health and Social Protection (D-8 HSP) in Abuja. Furthermore, Nigeria is on track to host the D8 Centre for Small and Medium Enterprises, and it is also preparing to host the first D8 Private Sector-driven Energy Forum in Lagos in mid-2023.

In conclusion, Tinubu’s victory has garnered congratulations from various leaders worldwide, highlighting the importance of Nigeria’s role in international relations and economic cooperation.
