In response to the escalating unrest and insecurity plaguing communities in Dala Local Government Area of Kano State, law enforcement agencies have made significant strides in curbing the issue. The Kano Police Command has announced the arrest of seven individuals believed to be involved in the disturbances that have engulfed the region.
Confirming the development, SP Abdullahi Haruna, the spokesperson for the Kano Police Command, disclosed to Vanguard on Tuesday that the unrest stemmed from clashes between rival thuggery groups in two communities within the area. A total of 17 suspects were apprehended, with seven of them directly linked to the outbreaks of violence based on extensive investigations.
SP Haruna conveyed, “Upon receiving reports regarding the unrest, we swiftly initiated actions. At present, 17 suspects have been apprehended, and subsequent investigations have identified seven individuals who were actively involved in the thuggery.”
Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the Commissioner of Police immediately took charge by convening a meeting with the area commander, influential traditional and religious leaders, and other stakeholders. Furthermore, he has deployed additional personnel and equipped them with the necessary resources to restore peace and order, particularly in the troubled area of Dutsen Dala.
Lawan Hussaini Dala, the representative of Dala Constituency in the state house of assembly and the Majority Leader, urgently addressed the matter during the assembly’s Monday plenary session. He emphasized the need for swift and decisive action to counter the unrest and insecurity, which have tragically resulted in numerous fatalities and widespread fear among residents.
The communities directly affected by the turmoil include Dala, Madigawa, Yalwa, Rijiya Biyu, Adakawa, and Dogon Nama. It is within these areas that the concerted efforts of the police force are focused, aimed at restoring normalcy and providing a sense of security for the affected residents.
As investigations continue and law enforcement agencies work diligently to bring the perpetrators to justice, the authorities are committed to preserving peace, safeguarding lives, and ensuring the welfare of the communities within the Dala Local Government Area.
