On Saturday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Ibrahim Kabiru, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the winner of the House of Assembly supplementary election in Jigawa State’s Birnin Kudu Constituency.

The Returning Officer, Prof Usman Haruna of the Federal University Dutse, declared Kabiru as the winner in the Birnin Kudu Local Government Area.

According to Haruna, “That Ibrahim Kabiru of PDP, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared winner and returned elected.” He stated that Kabiru won with 36,050 votes, defeating Muhammad Surajo, the incumbent Assembly member under the All Progressives Congress (APC), who secured 34,545 votes.

Moreover, Haruna provided detailed results for the other candidates in the election. Muhammad Yakubu of ADC received 283 votes, Halilu Aliyu of ADP received 117 votes, Ahmad Abdullahi of LP received 17 votes, Sulaiman Abdullahi of NNPP received 722 votes, Musa Mahmud of PPP received 460 votes, and Shuaibu Basiru of SDP received 14 votes.

The election was peaceful, and there were no reports of any significant incidents during the voting process. The voters of Birnin Kudu Constituency exercised their democratic rights, and their votes were counted accurately, leading to the victory of Ibrahim Kabiru.
