The National Chairman of, the Peoples Democratic Party, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, will begin a 14-day trip to Europe on Wednesday.
Iyorchia AyuThe Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the PDP Chairman, Simon Imobo-Tswam, made this known in a statement on Tuesday.
The statement read in part βthe PDP National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, will leave Nigeria for Europe tomorrow (Wednesday).
βAyu will be out of the country for about two weeks.
βWhile away, the Deputy Chairman (North), Amb. Iliya Damagun, will act in his place.
βAlready, the National chairman has communicated the handover to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He is expected back at month-endβ.
Ayu is facing mounting pressure from a strong section of the party to quit.
According to the group led by Rivers governor Nyesom Wike, Ayuβs position can no longer be justified after the party picked fellow northerner Atiku Abubakar as presidential flag bearer.
However, the party last week passed a vote of confidence on the chairman last week.
