Origi Set To Undergo Milan Medical After Seven Years At Liverpool

Liverpool striker Divock Origi has been keen on a move out of Anfield in the last couple of months and this has been met well with the club who are willing to let him leave to find his feet elsewhere as he continues to battle for game time under Jurgen Klopp. Origi joined the Reds in the summer of 2014, shortly after the departure of Luis Suarez to Barcelona for £65m.

Origi has been a fringe player in virtually all his time with Liverpool, with the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Roberto Firmino, and of recent Diogo Jota ahead of him in the pecking order. This has prompted the big Belgian to find a new club to call home after seven years on Merseyside for Liverpool.

The Belgium international is eager to join Italian giants this summer and the club have been making contact with him since December 2021. Initially, AC Milan were hoping for a winter transfer back in January but then decided against it, hoping to sign Origi for free in the summer when his contract at Liverpool expires.

The striker has agreed personal terms with AC Milan since April and he is looking forward to hitting the ground running as soon as the pre-season begins in July. AC Milan are in dire need of a striker and Origi fits the profile they require and it will be completed in a matter of days. With Zlatan Ibrahimovic nearing the end of his career, it is most likely Origi will be the first-choice striker at Milan, with Olivier Giroud also already in his mid-thirties.

Divock Origi will join AC Milan for free in June but his salary will be announced as soon as he signs on the dotted lines. His salary is expected to be slightly higher than his earnings at Liverpool and the striker will receive goal bonuses as well. Sources close to the forward claim that he is very excited at the opportunity of playing in Italy and for such a club as Milan, which boasts rich football history and heritage.

Liverpool are currently working to sign a new striker but no particular players have been contacted as of yet. It is very likely that Jurgen Klopp will not sign a new striker as he has hinted in recent interviews that he is keen on working with players from the club’s academy. However, the likes of Bobby Firmino and Takumi Minamino do not seem like they are leaving anytime soon.

Origi will undergo his medical at Milan in a matter of days and the announcement will be made when the transfer window officially opens. Milan are also working to sign Spurs winger Lucas Moura but the deal is very unlikely to be completed as the Brazilian has stated he intends to play at Spurs till his contract runs out.
