NYSC Director Cautions Corps Members on Dress Code in Gombe State
NYSC Emphasizes Proper Dressing for Corps Members in Gombe State

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a stern warning to corps members posted to Gombe State regarding their dressing, urging them to adhere to proper dress codes during their service period. The caution was given by Mr. Ahidjo Yahaya, the Director of the Northeast Area Office of NYSC, during his visit to the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp in the Amada community, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.

Mr. Yahaya, while addressing the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream I corps members, emphasized the importance of setting a good example as they serve as ambassadors both within the camp and in their host communities. He stressed the need for corps members to be role models to youths and children living in their assigned areas, fostering positive values and behavior.

“As corps members groomed and fully equipped for nation-building, you must be an example for the younger ones in society,” Mr. Yahaya said. He reminded them that, whether on the camp premises or at their places of primary assignment, dressing decently is not only a matter of personal appearance but also a reflection of their responsibility as representatives of the NYSC.

The warning came as part of efforts to prevent any actions that could lead to sanctions against the corps members. Mr. Yahaya made it clear that any violation of the NYSC’s dress code or breach of its rules would be met with appropriate sanctions.

“Discipline in your conduct is essential. Embrace the dignity of labor, adhere strictly to instructions, and avoid all forms of vices,” Mr. Yahaya advised the corps members.

In his interaction with the corps members and camp officials, the NYSC Director commended the participants for their good conduct during their stay at the orientation camp. He urged them to maintain this positive behavior as they move on to their respective communities for their primary assignments.

The NYSC scheme is an essential program in Nigeria that promotes unity and national integration by deploying young graduates from diverse backgrounds to serve in various parts of the country. Proper conduct and dressing are crucial aspects of their service, as they represent the ideals of the program and contribute to the development of the nation.

As corps members prepare to commence their primary assignments, the caution from the NYSC Director serves as a reminder for them to take their roles seriously and contribute positively to the communities they will be serving in.
