NURTW Caretaker Chairmen in Six South-West States Endorse President Baruwa's Second Term
President Baruwa Gains Strong Backing from NURTW Leaders in South-West States

Less than three months before the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) election, the caretaker chairmen of the union across six states in the South-West region have thrown their support behind the current president, Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa, for a second term.

In a statement forwarded to the Nigerian Tribune, the NURTW leaders in the South-West, including Chief Olalekan Folorunsho, the Osun State chairman and zonal chairman, Abideen Olajide (Oyo State chairman), Joseph Falope (Ekiti State chairman), Rauf Fakorede (Osun State chairman), Fatai Adesina (Lagos State chairman), Oluwatoyin Olaoye (Ondo State chairman), and Ismail Mustapha (Ogun State chairman), jointly signed the endorsement, while also expressing confidence in Baruwa’s leadership.

The leaders attributed their decision to back Baruwa to his exceptional leadership qualities and effective management in addressing matters concerning the NURTW as a whole and the welfare of its members.

Although hopeful that the proscription order placed on the NURTW activities in some South-West states would soon be lifted, the transport leaders expressed concern over certain members who were instigating conflicts in several states. They emphasized that such actions were detrimental to the interests of the transport union.

The statement released by the NURTW leaders stated, “During today’s meeting, it was resolved that the legitimate delegates from the South-West zone, duly recognized by the national headquarters, affirm our loyalty to the current administration led by Baruwa.”

The endorsement of President Baruwa’s second term by the NURTW caretaker chairmen in the South-West region is expected to bolster his campaign and influence the upcoming election. With their trust in Baruwa’s leadership abilities, these union leaders hope to continue working towards the betterment of the NURTW and the welfare of its members.
